I was invited by Col. Solud to ride with him after office hours to my review class, which was along his way to Pasay via Sta. Mesa Street and Nagtahan Bridge. I used to drop off at the corner of Legarda Street and Sta. Mesa Street, which was still a good, around 1000 meters to the Plaza Guipit near the fountain monument. It was raining “cats and dogs.”
Upon reaching the monument, the rain was very heavy. I said: “I’ll just go down where there is no rain, sir.” I didn’t want to get wet and get sick.
The rain stopped at Taft Avenue, where there was a newly opened law school owned by retired Chief Justice Francisco. I got out of the car and joined the review class there.
They were reviewing questions on property. I took down notes.
After the review class, I took a Jeepney ride to Pandacan. It was no longer raining.
That year, 1949, was the first time the graduates of the Francisco Law College would take Bar Exams.
Law students always prefer enrolling in law schools with high percentages of successful candidates, like U.P. and Ateneo.
The third Sunday was devoted to subjects on property.
To my surprise, the questions in the Bar Exam were exactly the same ones being reviewed in the Francisco Law College. Praise the Lord! What a coincidence I was there because of the RAIN!
Bar Exam questions are usually made by members of the Supreme Court, of which the owner, Senator Francisco, was a former Chief Justice before he retired and joined politics.
